Urinary Tract Infection

Discomfort in passing urine, increased urinary frequency, urgency, urethral, lower abdominal pain, back pain are all suggestive of urinary tract infection.

This is usually confirmed by urine culture which shows the type of infection, severity of infection and the likely antibiotic that can be given for treatment.

Treating the infection alone is not enough, We need to find out the root cause of infection and treat it

Causes of infection are

  • Stone in the urinary tract.
  • Tuberculosis.
  • Cancer.
  • Diabetics with poor sugar control.
  • Poor drainage of urine due to congenital or acquired causes.
  • Enlargement of prostate.
  • Urethral stricture.
